Traction The Neck
Stand above your client's head. Fold and twist a hand towel into a tube
shape. Cup their head in the palm of your hand. Use your
fingertips to hold the towel against the occipital bone. Rest your thumbs
on your client's jaw or cheek. And gently pull their head away from their
chest. Add a slight roll to each side as you traction the neck.
The first time you do this technique with a client use just a few pounds of pull.
Gradually increase the amount of pull and amount of traction time until your client
can feel lift in their chest and traction all the way into their back.

"My massage technique has improved so quickly. Christina has
taught me techniques that I have not heard or read anywhere else.
Her manual is very thorough and descriptive. I have learned how
to get into and relax the muscles in the quickest and most effective way
possible. My clients have noticed a difference.
Christina is a brilliant and fun teacher."
Alyson Depp
"When I first decided to come to Karamesines Deep Muscle Therapy© for a
session, it was because my physical and mental well-being was compromised and in a low state.
I couldn’t think clearly, my muscles were stiff and inflexible, and I had chronic pain and limited range
of motion in my shoulders and arms. Without really asking about what I thought my
condition to be, Christina intuitively read and zeroed in on my specific body stresses and
blockages. Under her strong and experienced touch she coaxed my mind and body to let go,
stimulating my circulation, and reconnecting the flow, bringing the rhythm of breath back to my body.
It was remarkable how this release made me feel different and more open to taking on the world.
I have tried many different kinds of therapies to relieve my chronic shoulder pain but none of them have
helped to this degree of healing. I continue to go to Christina because her therapies help me
work out the wear, tear and stress that accumulate over time. I feel better, rejuvenated and more
cognizant of my health because of these therapies."

What Dr. Andrew Weil has to say about Massage:
"Im a firm believer that massage stimulates the bodys own healing response, and I frequently
recommend massage therapy. A growing body of research shows that massage offers health benefits
throughout the life cycle: It promotes weight gain and motor development in babies, boosts respiratory
function in children with asthma. It also increases blood circulation, reduces stress hormones,
increases range of motion, reduces depression, and enhances immune function."

Bob Hope credited his long life to daily massages. This is confirmation that massage adds years to your life.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Leslie Knight, regional vice president of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) told her friend Christina Karamesines about the weary spirit of staff in AAHSA member communities in the Gulf States and how they were trying to cope with their own personal challenges while taking care of residents in need. Being a very caring person and a skilled massage therapist, Christina said "I want to go down to New Orleans and help to heal those people who have been through so much." So, Leslie said, "Ok, if you really want to volunteer your time and energy, we'll go down there." And off they went for a few days in January 2007, setting up shop at Lambeth House, a retirement community. Even though Christina couldn't actually see the devastation to New Orleans, the Gulf Coast and its people, she certainly could feel it. Her loss of vision didn't impede her ability to help heal tired bodies and spirits. In four days, she was able to reenergize 25 people with her amazing gift of touch.
AAHSA President Larry Minnix talked about the hurricane relief efforts. "People like Christina
will continue to show up in New Orleans with healing hands to massage our friends and colleagues
through this difficult time. They remind us that tragedy fatigue is an unacceptable state of
affairs. Thank God that for every Katrina we face in life, there is a Christina to help us hope
again."
